Controlling use of genetic resources

A certain part of environmental governance also pertains to controlling how new products are being developed, like e.g. to safeguard public health and the environment. In other cases, the purpose is to ensure a fair distribution of the profits from using genetic resources.

From on 12 October 2014, “The Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization” has aimed to ensure more equal distribution of the benefits arising from the utilization of genetic resources in a fair and equitable way.
