In many countries, intensive farming occupies a significant portion of the land, contributing to substantial greenhouse gas emissions. For example, in Denmark, approximately 60% of land area is used for intensive farming, leading to 9 million tons of CO2e emissions per year. If carbon-rich lowlands were taken out of intensive farming, the cut in CO2e emissions would be equivalent to that of 1.8 million conventional cars or 70% of all cars in Denmark.
