The Green Transition Is Digital

Despite good intentions, the world is falling 70% short of the needed climate action before 2030
Governments must translate ambitious climate policies into real-world implementation. Digital tools can accelerate this process. The cBrain F2® platform enables public authorities to rapidly configure and reuse digital workflows for grants, permits, and monitoring — helping governments deliver faster, more scalable solutions for the green transition.

Accelerating Policy Implementation

Governments must deliver competitive, resilient and sustainable economies in a changing political environment.

Closing the Time Gap

Governments are under pressure to deliver on multiple agendas in parallel. Resilient and effective energy supply and consumption are key components of sustainable growth and competitiveness. This requires bold government policies and, not least, full implementation of a diverse range of supporting policy instruments.

Cross-functional areas such as granting permissions, transitioning subsidies, and monitoring are examples of policy instruments requiring effective implementation.

Denmark has consistently been among the international front-runners in digital government, ranking number one in the UN’s eGovernment rankings for the past 8 years. The cBrain F2® platform was born out of a partnership with the Danish government and has since evolved into a standard for delivering fast and efficient solutions while eliminating IT project risks.

F2 is a fully integrated, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software platform built for government. The platform enables public administration to configure and adapt digital workflows to support changing policy requirements.

Today, the F2 platform is used in most Danish ministries and agencies, with increasing international expansion and customers across five continents.

Environmental agencies fast-tracking digital green transition

In Denmark, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) can digitize a new grant or permitting process with 25 hours of work using the F2 platform - without involving IT consultants or developers. The Danish EPA has chosen to onboard all grants, permits, and inspection processes onto a single platform to reduce implementation time and increase efficiency in case processing.

The Danish Energy Agency has automated grant applications and developed digital processes for offshore wind project management on the same digital platform. As a result, Denmark’s green transition is being fast-tracked with digital processing on a standard platform built for government.

The Danish Agency for Green Transition and Aquatic Environment provides grants for afforestation and land repurposing with seamless integration from their GIS-portal to their grant-application and management system

International reuse of Danish best practices

The F2 platform allows governments to copy and adapt software at high speed and reuse Danish government best practices. Today, the best practice for energy efficiency grants in Danish homes has been reused in Eastern Europe, and land-repurposing solutions from Denmark are now providing Californian landowners with sustainable farming plans.

These and many other projects prove that governments can share tools across borders and languages, making government IT a viable pathway – rather than a roadblock - for an accelerated green transition.

Genetic resources
Genetic resources
A certain part of environmental governance also pertains to controlling how new products are being developed, like e.g. to safeguard public health and the environment. In other cases, the purpose is to ensure a fair distribution of the profits from using genetic resources.
Circular economy and waste
Circular economy and waste
The world generates more than 2 billion tons of municipal solid waste annually. Experts claim that 33% of this is not managed in an environmentally safe manner. Plastic pollution from waste is one of the greatest human-made threats our planet faces.
Protection of biodiversity
Protection of biodiversity
The biodiversity crisis is inadvertently linked to the climate crisis. Climate change has a dramatic impact on nature and natural habitats, accelerating biodiversity loss. Conversely, safeguarding natural habitats and restoring nature can mitigate climate change. In the last 40 years, human activities have resulted in a drop in the global wildlife population by 60%, threatening our resilience towards pandemics, food security, etc.
Sustainable land use
Sustainable land use
Sustainable land management and carbon farming are proven, cost-efficient strategies for reducing atmospheric carbon while enhancing land productivity. By improving soil health, increasing carbon sequestration, and promoting biodiversity, these practices help mitigate climate change while providing economic and environmental benefits to landowners.
Increased energy efficiency
Increased energy efficiency
The energy we don’t use is the cleanest energy available. According to the International Energy Agency’s Net Zero by 2050 pathway, energy efficiency must deliver one third of the global reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Protection of nature
Protection of nature
Human behavior is impacting nature in an unprecedented way. 75 pct. of land surface is significantly altered. Two thirds of oceans are dramatically impacted. 85 pct. of wetlands are lost. These facts have led to an increased international, regional and national awareness of the need to protect and restore nature.
Clean water and air
Clean water and air
The water we drink and the air we breathe are the fundamentals of life on the planet. But according to the United Nations more than half of the global population doesn’t have access to safe sanitary services and more than 2 billion suffer from lack of access to clean drinking water.
